Imposter Syndrome, again?

Imposter syndrome is crazy, but it can be a positive signal.

Imposter syndrome is crazy.

I recently joined a new team at work, doing backend Kotlin dev at a very large scale. It’s not totally new to me, but coming from native Android world there is a ton to learn.

I have felt totally lost, inadequate, and afraid to ask questions for fear of seeming foolish. It’s brought back waves of tough memories of just getting started in my career.

But then I’ve remembered that this has happened multiple times. I felt this way when I got my first internship. I felt this way when I first taught myself iOS dev and got my first role as a full time software engineer. I felt this way when I was leading a greenfield re-write of my company’s flagship Android app. I feel this way when I switch companies, clients. It has happened again and again.

It’s never comfortable, but these are the moments I remember in my career. Being uncomfortable, and growing from it.

I hope it happens a few more times.
