I bought a domain for yet another app.
Opal Cut allows you to fully customize the Opal C1 camera, outputting the signal as a virtual webcam so you can pipe your customizations into any video app on your Mac like you’d do with a typical hardware webcam.
It’s a fork of open-opal. I mostly wanted to tinker with the UI, play around with some behavior, and ensure I could get a working build of the app reliably. I plan to keep supporting it as long as I have a working Opal C1 camera around.
In the world of vibe-coded bespoke apps you could build for yourself in a weekend, it can seem silly to share stuff like this. A slightly-modified fork of an app for a dead, overpriced webcam. But if it can find its way to one of the dozens of us out there rocking this old dying (but admittedly awesome) hardware, maybe it’s worth it.
